Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Naghtaneqed Elementary Junior Secondary!
I hope everyone had a happy, healthy, and enjoyable summer. I hope you had the opportunity to spend meaningful time with family, enjoying the land and territory and creating special memories together. I am very happy to be back and am looking forward to another exciting year of learning, growth, and connection within our school community.
Important Information at a Glance
- First Day of School: September 9, 2026
- First Day Schedule: Half day, 8:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. BUS LEAVES 10:45 A.M.
- Regular School Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Breakfast Program: Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.

- Required Supplies: Indoor shoes, water bottle, regular-sized backpack, and a warm coat. Other stationary supplies will be available at the school
- Outdoor Learning: Students will participate in regular land-based and outdoor learning activities throughout the year.

This year, I hope to continue providing meaningful opportunities that connect our students to the land, culture, and community. Students can look forward to:

- Community partnerships and cultural learning experiences
- Opportunities to build strong relationships with peers, staff, and community members
These experiences help students develop confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the world around them.
School Expectations and Code of Conduct
Creating a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment is a shared responsibility. Our school follows a Code of Conduct developed in accordance with School District 27 policies and expectations.
The Code of Conduct outlines:
- School rules and expectations
- Respectful and responsible behavior
- Student rights and responsibilities
- Consequences when expectations are not met
We appreciate the support of families in reviewing these expectations with their children. Working together helps ensure that all students feel safe, respected, valued, and ready to learn.

School Supplies and Outdoor Readiness
To ensure students are prepared for learning each day, please make sure they bring:

We spend time outdoors throughout the year, so students should come dressed for all weather conditions.
